DIRECTV, the world’s most popular video service, continues to deliver more full time HD channels than any other television provider in the nation with the addition of over 30 new HD channels. These new channels will begin rolling out in May and will continue in the following few months bringing DIRECTV’s total HD channel lineup to more than 160.
Among the 30 new HD channels that DIRECTV will begin launching next month are:
CSN Bay Area HD, Showtime Beyond HD, CSN California HD, Showtime Next HD, Encore HD East, Showtime Women HD, ESPNU HD, Starz Cinema HD, FSN Florida HD, Starz In Black HD, GolTV HD, Telefutura HD West, Hallmark Channel HD, TMC Xtra HD East, Hallmark Movie Channel HD, Travel Channel HD, HBO2 East HD, Univision HD East, HBO Zone HD, WGN HD, Lifetime HD, Additional DIRECTV Cinema Channels, MSNBC HD
“From day one we have led the way with HD and, to the dismay of our competitors, that has not changed,” said Derek Chang, executive vice president, Content Strategy and Development for DIRECTV. “While DISH Network is very skilled at grossly inflating their HD numbers, you’d be hard pressed to find an actual list of comprehensive HD channels that match their recent claims. We invite consumers to go to DIRECTV.com/hdchannels to see a list of all of DIRECTV’s more than 160 HD channels. We challenge DISH to publish a list of all their full-time HD channels so consumers can decide and count for themselves.”
In addition to the new HD channels, beginning this June, DIRECTV will launch a suite of 3D channels, which will include N3D(TM) powered by Panasonic, ESPN 3D, a 3D DIRECTV Cinema channel; and a 3D DIRECTV on Demand channel.

NFL Remote from DirecTV

Here is one of those times when you can use the elongated word for fan and use fanatic. When you get your favorite team decals plastered all over your remote you graduate to Super Fan. Why would you not get the super fan remote? The rest of your home displays your dedication for your team or if you’re married you at least a room is dedicated to your beloved weekend warriors. But this remote is more for show of course because when your game is on, the last thing in the world you want to touch is the remote, unless it’s to rewind a bone crushing hit. It’s more of constant reminder for the rest of the week, a comfort factor if you will, for a day soon to come when your team will be battling another hungry opponent for a place in the Super Bowl.
So add the NFL remote to the collection of things you don’t need but have to have. The NFL Remote is available through DirecTV, the obvious choice for all football fanatics. Any if you do consider yourself to be a football fan and you’re not watching games with DirecTV; you need to call 866.989.3474 to order it today.

won’t be getting a celebratory announcement, or see it written in the sky, in fact you won’t even see a little ticker tab running across the bottom of your TV screen but here is what you will see…well if you’re a DIRECTV customer at least. Early this week DIRECTV announced the addition of 23 new High-Definition channels to their lineup, bringing the total to approximately 100. For months DIRECTV has boasted that they are on track to hit 100 local HD channels by the end of 2007, and with another month and a half of 2007 to go DIRECTV might be able to bring their national HD channel lineup to 100 also (currently the DIRECTV national channel lineup is at 85). DIRECTV customers will now be able to watch 5 new high-def PPV channels, 13 new regional sports channels, and a handful of basic cable channels like MTV HD, Spike HD, and Nickelodeon HD. So while those poor folks that have not taken advantage of DIRECTV and all it has to offer are still watching their dozen or so HD channels, the rest of us will know that DirecTV HD does not only stand for High Definition but also for HOT DAMN! Congratulation DIRECTV!

DirecTV recently announced that local high definition channels in Anchorage and Juneau Alaska, will be added to their ever growing HD channel lineup. Currently DirecTV offers close to 70 HD channels including fan favorites like TLC, HGTV, The Food Network and National Geographic which features hit shows like Naked Science and The Dog Whisperer. Lets be honest since Alaska is known for cold and snow dogs, The Dog Whisper should be a huge success, I think those dogs would have a lot to say. Since DirecTV’s recent addition the folks in Alaska will be able to tune in and find out that their local weather station is predicting more snow and a cold front, and not just any snow, High Definition snow.

DIRECTV Claims 70 HD Channel Milestone

(Story From The Retail BRIDGE 10/16/2007)
The high definition news from DIRECTV just keeps on coming.
On Monday the satcaster announced that it had added six national HD channels to its growing high-def lineup, taking its nationwide total to 72 and reaching its promised goal of 70 HD channels by the end of October.
“The DIRECTV HD programming expansion that consumers have been waiting for has become a reality,” said Derek Chang, DIRECTV’s executive vice president of content strategy and development. “We overwhelmingly lead the industry in terms of both quantity and quality of HD programming. There simply isn’t a better television experience on the planet.”
DIRECTV’s new HD additions include FX HD (channel 248), Speed Network HD (channel 607), Fuel HD (channel 612), HDTV HD (channel 229-1), The Cartoon Network HD (channel 296) and the newly-launched Fox Business Network (channel 359). Several regional sports channels were also added Monday, the company said.
But does it really add up to 72 channels of HD programming? Only if you get a little creative with the count.
While DIRECTV does now offer 47 unique national high definition channels, getting to 72 requires adding in some of the local broadcast networks (like NBC HD in both Los Angeles and New York), select regional sports nets (like NESN HD and YES HD) and even its high-def pay-per-view channels (6 of which launched yesterday, by the way).
It’s getting there, though, and DIRECTV execs are confident that the company will reach the promised 100 national HD channels by the end of the year.
